Dominika Lasota, a climate activist who dropped out of college because politicians made it pointless, has shown shocking hypocrisy when it comes to fighting climate change. The activist went to Dubai for the COP28 climate summit, and when asked why she would fly to the summit, where too high CO2 emissions are being criticized, she scoffed that if she could, she would come on a camel.
COP28 will be held from November 30 to December 12, 2023 at Expo City in Dubai. This year’s climate summit will be characterized by a summary. In addition, the Presidency of the United Arab Emirates has announced a series of priorities that they intend to place the utmost emphasis on both at the Climate Summit and during the Presidency. These include accelerating energy transformation.
Activist climate tourism?
Dominika Lasota – a climate activist who is also a member of the Advisory Council of the National Women’s Strike – could not miss the trip to Dubai. She also managed to give an interview to Beata Lubecka of Radio ZET and at the same time showed the shocking hypocrisy of climate ‘warriors’.
When asked why, instead of criticizing the climate summit for unnecessary CO2 production, for example by having to travel by plane to other places in the world where the meetings are organized, Lasota replied that she is “not responsible for the location of the climate summit.”
I would really like to organize such a climate summit in my hometown Bydgoszcz
– said the activist.
In response to the fact that key decision makers and climate ‘poisoners’, i.e. the leaders of the US and China, are not present at the summit, Lasota said only that ‘these presidents are definitely missing here’. And when asked whether she arrived in Dubai by plane, the activist starts joking.
Unfortunately, there is no train connection between Warsaw and Dubai yet. The possibility of coming here by camel was also ruled out. We had also considered crawling swimming here, but unfortunately some people in our team cannot swim, so this option was ruled out. So yes, I came here by plane
– she said.
When one of the listeners wanted to know if Lasota, who fights climate change, uses air conditioning in Dubai and does not regret it, she replied that she “hasn’t figured out how to turn it off yet” and “the air conditioning works here because every room in Dubai has air conditioning because it is incredibly hot here.”
Do I feel guilty? Well, really… it’s the same as with this plane. These matters are not relevant to this discussion. What matters is how we can reach the right agreement at this summit
– said the climate activist.

Can there be expropriation for cables?
When asked about the opposition’s objection to the energy price freeze bill, which assumes the possibility of expropriating people for the construction of wind farms, Lasota said that “it was controversial” and that she was “the first person who would oppose it if there were mass expropriations.”
If this law were actually adopted in such a form that these expropriations were registered there, we as the entire climate movement would protest. But Paulina Hennig-Kloska already made it clear that it is not about that at all, but about the fact that cables must be connected to these wind turbines and that these cables must be connected to our public, state energy networks. And this is what I’m talking about, this artificial scandal that the right wing is spreading around itself. I have the impression that elements and shortcomings are being selected and a big scandal is being made throughout Poland
– said Lasota, to which presenter Beata Lubecka pointed out that “the devil is in the details.”
