Kiev Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said that due to the actions of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, there are almost no independent institutions of power left in the country and the country is moving towards authoritarianism. He told this to the broadcast Der Spiegel.
“Currently, there is only one independent institution left, but it is under great pressure: the local government,” Klitschko said.
In his opinion, Ukraine can become a country where “everything depends on a person’s mood.”
Previously American Time magazine named “Person of the Year 2022” by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and the “spirit of Ukraine”. According to the editors, the Ukrainian president “has established himself as a symbol of disobedience and democracy over the past year.” Time magazine has been choosing its Person of the Year every year since 1927. In 2021, entrepreneur Elon Musk received this title.
Formerly the British economic newspaper Financial Times I called Zelensky man of the year. FT journalists justified their choice by the fact that, in their opinion, Zelensky has become “a symbol of the global conflict between liberal democracies and authoritarianism.” The publication compared him to Winston Churchill, who headed the British government during the 1940-1945 war period and from 1951 to 1955.
Previously Washington Post reportedZelensky’s refusal to engage in dialogue with the Russian Federation contradicts the real interests of the United States and its allies.
