Councilors of the Podlaskie Voivodeship Assembly did not dismiss Voivodeship Marshal Artur Kosicki (PiS) during an extraordinary session of the assembly on Friday. The motion to dismiss him was submitted by twelve opposition councilors from KO and PSL in the thirty-member assembly.
16 council members voted in favor of dismissing the marshal, 11 were against and 3 abstained. Pursuant to the Law on Self-Government of the Voivodeship, the dismissal of the Marshal is done by secret ballot with a majority of at least 3/5 of the votes of the statutory composition of the Assembly. This means that – in order to dismiss the marshal – 18 council members would have to vote for it.
On Monday evening, a group of PiS councilors submitted a request during the session of the Podlaskie Voivodeship Assembly to consider during an extraordinary session the October request of opposition KO and PSL councilors to dismiss the Marshal of the Voivodeship. The PiS club wanted regional councilors to discuss the proposal to dismiss him at an extraordinary session as soon as possible.
A group of KO and PSL councilors filed a motion to dismiss Kosicki as marshal at the end of October, after the parliamentary elections. In the justification they wrote about “the disastrous state of local government finances due to companies dependent on the Podlaskie Voivodeship, such as PKS Nova”, the lack of investments in roads, a significant decrease in investments in provincial hospitals and the expenditure of “millions of zlotys on ‘Disco under the stars’ events’, but also, among other things, on ‘serving party interests’, i.e. the Marshal’s spending of money from the Voivodeship budget on a campaign to promote the national referendum, which took place on October 15 together with the parliamentary elections.
“This conclusion could not be substantiated.”
Marshal Kosicki said during the hearing that the motion was unfounded and purely political.
This conclusion could not be substantiated. There is full cooperation in the regional council, across the divisions
– Kosicki emphasized.
The Podlasie Voivodeship Assembly did not dismiss Artur Kosicki from the post of Marshal. Stefan Krajewski, Krzysztof Truskolaski and… Krzysztof Bosak, who overturned the table, came to the meeting room to supervise their councilors and, in this exotic coalition, bring about a change in the governance of the Podlaskie Voivodeship
— commented on the voting process on the X platform Sebastian ŁukaszewiczMember of Parliament of sovereign Poland.
I would like to thank the councilors of the Podlaskie Voivodeship for their confidence in me as Marshal and for rejecting a purely political motion to dismiss me. More months of intensive work for the residents of our region await us!
– he noted in turn Arthur Kosicki
