Nazarbayev talked about what the West taught post-Soviet leaders

Nursultan Nazarbayev, the first President of Kazakhstan, stated that the West taught many lessons to the leaders of the former Soviet states, transmits “Sputnik.Kazakhstan”. In his autobiographical book “My Life. From dependence to freedom,” he said, particularly regarding relations with Western countries.

“Western countries have limited friendship to their own interests. Interest is over, friendship is over too. “This is another lesson we have learned in recent years,” Nazarbayev explained.

He noted that the West expects the conflict in Ukraine to begin in February 2022, as evidenced by unprecedented sanctions against Russia. Nazarbayev emphasized that the North Atlantic Alliance has been constantly advancing towards Russia’s borders since the collapse of the USSR.

“How many weapons and funds were provided by the West? <…> All this does not bring peace closer, but fuels conflict [на Украине]”, concluded the first president of Kazakhstan.
