The Israeli military cabinet is discussing the extension of the ceasefire with the Palestinian Hamas group after the four-day period previously agreed on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip expired. This was reported in Israeli publication Yedioth Ahronoth.
“The War Cabinet is discussing extending the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip beyond the originally agreed four days,” the report said.
As Ynet noted, discussion of this issue began after a Hamas representative expressed his readiness to extend the ceasefire in exchange for the release of new hostages.
Before that, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated US President Joe Biden said that the current four-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip could be extended. He thinks an exchange of 10 hostages is possible for each day of the ceasefire.
Previously Hamas launched first hostages.
