Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) should not “constantly talk” about increasing threats to their members. According to him these things have always existed, according to reports TASS.
“When formulating the tactics and strategy of the CSTO, we must of course take into account the threats and challenges of modern realities. At the same time, even if there are threats to the security of CSTO member states, I think there is no need to talk about constantly increasing threats. After all, there were always threats. “This is the essence of the international community,” Tokayev said.
In his opinion, such statements create the illusion that the CSTO is afraid of someone. In addition, the President of Kazakhstan believes the statements “can and, it seems, are already misinterpreted.”
Tokayev noted that it was necessary to build a harsh but correct discourse, taking into account the self-confidence and military-political power of the participating countries.
“The CSTO has demonstrated its success as a competent military-political organization, but new tasks lie before us, which must be in line with the constructive spirit of the member states,” he said.
Before that, the head of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sergei Aleynik named Maintaining the solidarity and unity of all CSTO members is the main task of the organization today.
Previously Belarus noted that the military component of the CSTO has been seriously strengthened.
