The dream of the presidency could be a kind of political pillar for Donald Tusk, and he is certainly seriously considering it as one of the options, said Marcin Mastalerek, head of the President’s Office, on Polish Radio’s Program I.
Mastalek was asked whether Donald Tusk would like to become head of the European Commission, because he wants to be president of the Republic of Poland and participate in the elections in a year and a half.
Donald Tusk has developed a love for European politics and I think he would like to return there
– emphasized Mastalerek.
We hear that there is no chance for him to become head of the European Commission, so he will probably delegate someone else as commissioner or deputy head.
– added.
He has two choices: either hold new elections and govern independently, or try to become president. Let’s not forget that he experienced a major trauma in 2005. After his defeat (in the presidential elections) he started the Polish-Polish war. An industry of contempt for the late emerged. President Lech Kaczynski. It seems to me that the dream of the presidency could be some kind of political crutch for Donald Tusk and he is certainly seriously considering it as one of the variants.
– said Marcin Mastalerek.
He is an experienced and extremely talented man. He doesn’t have one plan, but probably three or four plans that he’s taking seriously, and this one, in my opinion, is very likely.
– he assessed.
Mastalerek: It speaks well of the Prime Minister that he wanted to take on the mission of forming a government
You have to be ready for all scenarios – said the head of the President’s Office, Marcin Mastalerek, in Program I of Polish Radio. “It speaks well of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki that he wanted to take on the mission of forming a government,” he added. “It is good that the prime minister is fighting,” he emphasized.
When Mastalerek was asked about Mateusz Morawiecki’s government-building mission, he noted that “the Prime Minister was very willing – and this speaks well of him – to take on this mission.”
You always have to fight to the end, try, try
– added the head of the President’s office.
As he noted, “the Prime Minister will have the opportunity to present the new Cabinet, which will be different from the previous one, and then he will be able to present both his and Prime Minister Beata Szydło’s achievements over the past eight years. as well as his plans for the future.”
The chances of this happening are of course not great, because both the Left, the Third Way and the Citizens’ Coalition have announced that they will vote together.
– he noted.
However, not all political actions are taken with today in mind
– said Mastalerek.
It’s good that the Prime Minister is fighting
– he emphasized.
Please note that before the elections, the Razem party, part of the left, announced that Donald Tusk would not become Prime Minister and that they would use a veto. Today we are dealing with a situation where the Razem party is not part of this government, but – which is quite strange to me – will stand behind this cabinet.
– said Marcin Mastalerek. According to him, “anything can happen, you have to be prepared for all scenarios.”
Resignation of the Council of Ministers
On November 13, President Andrzej Duda accepted the resignation of the Council of Ministers, which will continue to perform its duties until a new government is appointed, and then – in accordance with previous statements – he appointed Mateusz Morawiecki as Prime Minister.
The President shall appoint the Prime Minister together with the other members of the Council of Ministers within fourteen days from the date of the first meeting of the Sejm or the acceptance of the resignation of the previous Council of Ministers, and shall administer the oath of the members of the Sejm. newly appointed council of ministers.
According to the constitution, the prime minister presents the government’s program of activities to the Sejm, together with a motion for a vote of confidence, within fourteen days of his appointment. The Sejm adopts a vote of confidence by an absolute majority of votes in the presence of at least half of the legal number of deputies.
The Constitution stipulates that if the first step fails to appoint a government, the Sejm takes the initiative to form a government; A candidate for prime minister can be nominated by a group of at least 46 MPs. The Sejm elects the Prime Minister by an absolute majority in the presence of at least half of the legal number of deputies.
The candidate of KO, PSL, Polski 2050 and Left for Prime Minister is Donald Tusk.
“Marshal Hołownia will be the face of one big brawl in the Sejm.
Marshal of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia was “played by Donald Tusk, who has much more experience,” Marcin Mastalerek, head of the President’s Office, said in Polish Radio’s Program I. When this media window ends, Marshal Hołownia will become the face of the scandal in the Sejm – he added.
Today is Marshal Hołownia’s honeymoon. He was a great journalist, showman and media gifted person. He is taking advantage of his media window, but that will soon come to an end
– said Mastalek.
If Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki fails to appoint a government, a new government will be formed and public opinion will focus on the new government, leaving Speaker Hołownia in the Sejm without a vice-chairman of the largest parliamentary meeting. club, where seven and a half million people voted.
– notes the Head of the President’s Office, referring to the decision of the Sejm, which did not elect PiS candidate Elżbieta Witek as Vice-President.
This will mean one big brawl. Marshal Hołownia will be the face of one big brawl in the Sejm, even bigger than in previous terms.
– said Mastalek.
It is the Marshal of Hołownia who should worry about a Deputy Marshal of Law and Justice
– added.
According to the head of the President’s Office, Szymon Hołownia was “played by Donald Tusk, who has much more experience”.
When this media period, the honeymoon, ends, Marshal Hołownia will become the face of the quarrel and everyone will remind him every day: “You are the Marshal of the Sejm, in which for the first time in history the largest parliamentary club is not in the Presidium, and there is no vice-chairman of the Sejm.” This is repeated like a mantra
– said Mastalerek.
He noted that “this will cause fighting to break out in the Sejm.”
The biggest winner from this will be Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the biggest loser – Marshal Szymon Hołownia
– he assessed.
Head of the President’s Office: Poles did not vote to hold the PiS government accountable
Poles did not vote to hold the PiS government accountable; they want the future government to deal with the most important Polish issues – said Marcin Mastalerek, the head of the Office of the President of the Republic of Poland, on Program I of Polish Radio.
Asked about the PiS settlements announced by Donald Tusk, Mastalek said voters were motivated by the future government’s handling of “the most important Polish issues”. He ruled that the settlements were part of the PO campaign, unlike coalition partner Third Way.
The Civic Platform promised them in the campaign. This is nothing new. And she didn’t win the election. However, if he rules, he will rule thanks to the Third Way, which has not announced any settlements. A third way was announced
– said Mastalek.
If they start settling these scores instead of governing, people will start to realize it and say, hey, we wanted something different.
– he said.
We want the government to tackle the most important Polish issues. There is war in Ukraine, outside our border. These are very serious matters. Is this government today engaged in games in the Sejm, quarrels, settlements and shows?
– he emphasized.
This could end really badly for the platform. It must be remembered that this is not what Poles voted for. In percentage terms, Poles voted the same as three years earlier for Rafał Trzaskowski. It is not through this kind of rhetoric that change happens
– added the head of the President’s office.
When asked what he thought of coalition politicians’ claims that they considered Rafał Trzaskowski as “their president”, Mastalerek said these words were “frivolous”.
These are frivolous words that insult both the Poles voting in 2020 and Polish democracy. I hope they will withdraw these words soon, because democracy is the strongest in Polish history
– said the head of the President’s office.
He highlighted that KO politicians won in major cities and parliaments, and that record voter turnout was recorded in Poland’s last elections.
How can they say there is no democracy in Poland? (…) This, I understand, is rhetoric and it was their rhetoric, but the campaign is over. The need for responsibility
– he pointed out.
