Paweł Jabłoński, during the program “Debata Dnia” on Polsat NEWS television, took out a photo of Tomasz Zimoch and suggested that the 2050 Polish MP deliberately showed a vulgar gesture during the parliamentary debate. Opposition MPs, who were guests on the program together with Jabłoński, defended Zimoch and even called him so he could explain! Zimoch said he was “shocked” by the whole situation and demanded a public apology from Jabłoński, which the deputy minister did on Platform X. However, this did not satisfy Zimoch.
In the photo Jabłoński showed, Zimoch has his middle finger on his chin. Jabłoński suggested that the new member of the National Council of the Judiciary wanted to show a vulgar gesture.
Please look. Everyone can judge this for themselves, I’m just demonstrating it
– emphasized the PiS MP.
Jabłoński argued that Zimoch’s gesture was addressed to Poles who voted for PiS.
I remember the situation with Mrs. Joanna Lichocka. You attacked our MP for making a similar gesture – a huge scandal. We hear this lecture about norms. These are their standards
– said Jabłoński.
““I’m furious”
The words of the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs outraged Zimoch’s colleagues. Piotr Borys decided to call him and ask him about this gesture.
Mr Paweł Jabłoński, if you say something like that, you are a total liar, a person without any principles, and not just good manners. It’s a scandal what you say. I’m furious
– said Tomasz Zimoch.
“I don’t want to assume bad intentions.”
After the program, Jabłoński posted a message on the X platform apologizing to MP Zimoch.
Mr @tzimoch claims that the extended middle finger was not intended as an offensive gesture, but as unconscious ‘palm-palming’ behaviour.
I’m not entirely sure if this is true or not, but I don’t want to assume bad intentions (even if different standards are applied to our MPs).
I therefore apologize to the honorable Member for suggesting that he made this gesture on purpose
– wrote the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Mr MP, unfortunately you are a terrible manipulator. You had the time and opportunity in the TV program to withdraw and say a word: I’m sorry. You didn’t do it cowardly. You will receive a letter from my lawyer. I will also report the matter to the Parliamentary Ethics Committee
– replied MP Zimoch.
