US President’s National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said the US House of Representatives’ reluctance to approve the administration’s request for support to Ukraine makes it difficult to provide assistance to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This was reported by RIA News.
According to him, this situation affects the American side’s ability to convey Kiev’s needs to Ukraine. Sullivan emphasized that this impact will increase.
The advisor to the US President emphasized that with each week of delay, Washington’s ability to finance the transfer of what is needed to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) becomes more difficult.
He added that the US administration is already sending aid to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, considering when the House of Representatives may approve the White House’s request.
Before that, U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson introduced Two-phase interim funding bill for the federal government. Some sections are expected to be funded by January 19, 2024, and others by February 2. The document does not envisage the allocation of funds to Ukraine (and Israel). The bill has faced criticism (even among Republicans), so a new shutdown in the US looks increasingly realistic.
Previously in Italy statedHe stated that Ukraine will be at the center of the G7 agenda in 2024.
