Currently, discussions and agreements are underway on the composition of the Presidium of the Sejm, we will see how it will all work out in the coming days – said the leader of Poland 2050, Szymon Hołownia. My candidacy for chairman of the Sejm is on the table, but not everyone agrees on it yet, Hołownia said.
Hołownia, who was asked by journalists in the Sejm whether he would support the candidacy of Elżbieta Witek (PiS) for deputy chairman of the Sejm, replied: “At the moment there are still discussions and agreements on the composition of the Sejm Presidium, we will see how it all works out in the coming days.”
When asked whether all clubs should have representatives in the Presidium of the Sejm, he replied: “We will see, the Sejm will decide on it. Discussions on this topic are currently underway, including with representatives of all parliamentary forces.
When asked whether it is possible for a seat to be created for a PiS representative, the only condition may be that this person is not suspected of appearing before the State Tribunal and that he will not appear before an investigative committee in the coming term. he replied: “It is true that we do not yet know who will propose PiS.
We heard it was Elżbieta Witek. It is obvious that PiS will have the opportunity to have this deputy chairman in the presidency. But we’ll see who it will be in the end. These conversations outside the official rhythm are also ongoing, agreements and consultations are underway, it will probably be finally resolved within a few days, a decision will be made on Monday
– said the leader of Poland 2050.
When journalists asked him whether his candidacy for the presidency of the Sejm was certain, Hołownia replied: “It is on the table, but we have not all agreed on it yet, it has been established in such a way that we can come out and say it, but it is actually on the table.”
First we will have to elect a marshal, and then the exciting second part will follow on Monday (November 13) in the form of the election of the Presidium of the Sejm.
– added.
As he noted, he would like the Sejm to “work efficiently and for people to stop associating it with a circus and instead become a place that we will be proud of and that will show how we can work together, even if we have different views. ”
There will be no fights over committees, there will be no fights over seats in the Presidium of the Sejm, we will try to do it in such a way that it will be a new Sejm, a new quality
– assured Hołownia.
When asked whether he would open the Sejm lobby to journalists, he said that “the lobby is also a matter of security.”
This is clear from the preliminary research I have done. There is certainly no reason for you, if it were up to me, to restrict your activities in the Marshal’s hallway or in other places to which journalists should have access. Behind the scenes, however, it will not be a political decision, but one motivated by security reasons. If it depends on me or us, we will definitely talk to the Marshal’s Guard about it.
– added.
He announced that “the barriers will finally disappear.”
Sawicki: We will probably find out the shape of the coalition agreement on Thursday
On Thursday, during the first meeting of the PSL club, we will probably find out how the negotiations ended, the form of the coalition agreement and the division of ministries, Marek Sawicki (PSL) told PAP. He said approval of the contract by PSL management is not necessary but could be helpful.
On Thursday, President Andrzej Duda will award appointments for the posts of Senior Speaker of the Sejm and the Senate. Both Marek Sawicki (PSL) – appointed by the Head of State as Senior Marshal of the Sejm, and PiS Senator Michał Seweryński – appointed as Senior Marshal of the Senate, informed about the receipt of invitations to meet with the President. Seweryński said in an interview with PAP that the meeting with the president will take place on Thursday at 2 p.m.
Sawicki told PAP on Wednesday that the first meeting of the parliamentary PSL club was scheduled for Thursday at 2 p.m., but probably – due to the president’s appointments – the club meeting will be postponed to 15.
Bee. On the 14th, the President wants to appoint us as senior marshals of the Sejm and the Senate. I will at least ask Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and Piotr Zgorzelski to accompany me
– said Sawicki.
He said that during the first meeting of the PSL club, MPs would probably find out how the negotiations between the parties currently in opposition ended and what the form of the coalition agreement is.
We will probably also know the distribution of ministries and the distribution of committees in the Sejm, as agreed within the parliamentary groups. It is likely that the president (PSL Władysław) Kosiniak-Kamysz and the new chairman of the club will inform who, if any, he will entrust with which functions
– said Sawicki.
When asked whether this means that the coalition agreement will be completed on Thursday, he replied: “I think that the internal knowledge will be sufficient for President Kosiniak-Kamysz to be able to convey it to the club.”
Sawicki emphasized that in the resolution of the Supreme Council of the PSL, the President of the PSL, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, was given the power to conclude and shape a coalition in the government and the Sejm. He pointed out that it is not necessary for the PSL Executive Committee to approve the contract, but “it appears that there would have to be such approval for legal peace.” He added that the NKW could meet at any time.
Speaking about further cooperation with Poland 2050 within the Third Way (PSL and Poland 2050), Sawicki pointed out that an opening meeting of both parliamentary clubs will certainly take place.
We announce close federal cooperation, joint agreements on important issues and, of course, autonomy in making decisions about the majority of votes.
– said the politician.
At the end of October, the leader of Poland 2050, Szymon Hołownia, announced that there would be two clubs in the Sejm: Polska 2050 Trzecia Droga and Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe Trzecia Droga. They will be connected by a cooperation agreement – Hołownia announced then. The head of PSL, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, emphasized at the end of October that “there will be a new formula, a confederation of two clubs that will also have a common denominator in their names, and we are intensifying cooperation, we are preparing to also participating in local government elections.”
In the Sejm elections that took place on October 15, PiS won 194 seats, KO – 157, Trzecia Droga – 65, Nowa Lewica – 26 and Konfederacja – 18.
President Andrzej Duda announced in his speech on Monday that he had decided to entrust the mission of forming a government to Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. The President pointed out that if the mission of the representative of Law and Justice fails, the Sejm will in the next step choose a candidate for the premiership and immediately appoint him to this position. PiS won 194 seats in the elections, the party is 37 seats short of a parliamentary majority.
KO won 157 seats, Third Road – 65 and New Left – 26 – giving these formations a majority of 248 MPs. The leaders of KO, Third Way and New Left announced the signing of a coalition agreement to create a future government, led by the head of the PO, Donald Tusk. According to PO Secretary General Marcin Kiewiński, Friday is the most likely date for signing the coalition agreement. The leaders of KO, Third Way and Left agreed that this would definitely be before November 11, Kierwiński said on Wednesday.
Budka criticizes Marshal Witek
I have a very negative opinion about what Marshal Elżbieta Witek did, but it will be the decision of the party leaders whether we will appoint people who will absolutely not sit in the Presidium of the Sejm, or whether there will be freedom in this matter – said the head of the KO club, Borys Budka.
In the Sejm, journalists asked the head of the KO Club, Borys Budka, what the composition of the Sejm Presidium would look like and whether every candidate proposed by PiS should be approved.
We will talk about it after the formal start of the meeting, but it will be a joint decision by the coalition partners from the Democratic majority. Leaders need to figure these things out
– said Budka. He added that the next meetings will take place on Wednesday and Thursday.
I think there will be a uniform position among all clubs. In general, we respect the principle of autonomy in nominating candidates
– he said. He emphasized that leaders would comment on specific names.
Journalists also asked whether the chairman of the Sejm, Elżbieta Witek, would come there to watch.
It is not for me to judge, I have a very negative opinion about what Marshal Witek did. Let me remind you of the famous illegal reassignments, but it will be the decision of the party leaders whether we will appoint people who will absolutely not be in the Presidium, or whether there will be discretion here.
– he announced.
When asked whether all clubs would have a representative in the presidium, Budka said that the decision on this matter had not yet been made and that it would be decided by the leaders.
I am in favor of such a decision, but we must not forget that the Presidium of the Sejm and the Presidium of the Senate must also reflect the majority in a given term.
– he pointed out.
He recalled that in the current term PiS had the chairman of the Sejm and two deputy speakers to obtain a majority.
The Marshal organizes the work of the Sejm together with the Presidium. And it is difficult for anyone today to expect that the minority in this Sejm, that is, the opposition in this Sejm, will be of crucial importance in this Sejm Presidium, because this will not be the case.
– he emphasized.
The Sejm must function efficiently. It will have a good, efficient Marshal, it will have an efficient Presidium of the Sejm, in which the majority will consist of the majority democratic parties.
– added.
