PiS member Anna Fotyga sent an interpellation to the European Commission on “The interference of the President of the European Commission in the constitutional process of electing a government in a Member State.”
About the content of the interpellation Anna Fotyga recalled Donald Tusk’s visit to Brussels, which – according to press information – was aimed at “unblocking the Polish KPO”. During the visit, the head of PO met the President of the European Commission “in a format reserved for heads of government.”
The format of Donald Tusk’s reception by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen caused outrage not only in Poland. Also in the Western media it was considered premature, contrary to democratic norms, interference in the national politics of Member States with a clear preference by the German President of the European Commission for a pro-German politician who has not yet been entrusted with the mission . forming a government.
– said the PiS member in a post on the X platform.
Questions from Anna Fotyga
Anna Fotyga asked the European Commission the following three questions:
1. How does the EC justify the meeting of the President of the European Commission on October 25 with Donald Tusk?
2. Why is the head of the European Commission, who in theory should be an apolitical official, interfering in the politics of a Member State at a critical time when the government is being elected according to procedures strictly laid down in the Constitution?
3. Does the EC confirm Donald Tusk’s statement that the condition for the payment of money from the KPO is that politicians from this political camp take over the reins of the government in Poland?
