The presidents of the American cities of Denver, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles and New York requested a meeting with US President Joe Biden regarding the immigration issue. This was reported by Associated press referring to the mayors’ letter.
The publication notes that five Democratic mayors have asked the US presidential administration for help or resources to deal with the influx of immigrants. According to them, they come with almost no coordination. The message stated that the mayors appreciated Biden’s efforts, but much more needed to be done to ease the “burden on cities.”
According to Denver Mayor Mike Johnston, most immigrants have trouble finding jobs.
The letter was signed by New York City Mayor Eric Adams, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner.
