“A coalition agreement between the Civic Coalition, Third Way and the Left is possible on Monday,” opposition sources told PAP.
A new meeting of the leaders of the Civic Coalition, Left and Third Way on the formation of a new government will take place in Warsaw on Thursday.
According to a politician who is familiar with the background of the conversations, the meetings took place in a good atmosphere.
The talks are still ongoing. We will probably sign a coalition agreement on Monday
– he said. He noted that he would not provide details. Negotiation teams also meet in parallel with the leaders. Their next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
When asked Marcin Kierwiński, Secretary General of the Civic Platform, whether there is a chance that work on the coalition agreement will be completed and completed this week, he replied:
I think we will work very hard this week when it comes to these substantive issues, (I think) this is not this week’s perspective, but we will try to complete this work as soon as possible
– he pointed out.
Work out a compromise
Left-wing club secretary Dariusz Wieczorek said on Monday that the negotiating team, in which he participates on behalf of his formation, will meet every day to work on reaching a compromise.
If this is successful, we aim to complete work on the Framework Program Agreement by the end of the week
– he said.
The agreement is intended to include common points connecting KO, Third Way and Links.
Agreement has already been reached in many areas. This includes obtaining funds for the National Reconstruction Plan, increases for the budget and teachers, the restoration of the rule of law and education.

One point of disagreement may be the issue of abortion, which mainly distinguishes the left from conservatives, especially those of the Third Way. However, women’s rights must be included in the twenty core curriculum areas.
In the October 15 Sejm elections, Law and Justice won 194 seats, KO – 157; Third Way (Poland 2050 and PSL) – 65; New Left – 26; Confederacy – 18.
Last week, President Andrzej Duda held talks with the leaders of the electoral commissions that will have their representatives in the new Sejm. After the meeting, the president said there are two political groups that claim to have a parliamentary majority and have a candidate for prime minister. As he said: the candidate of the United Right is Mateusz Morawiecki, and the candidate of KO, Third Way and the Left is Donald Tusk. He also stated that KO, Third Road and Links have not yet formally formed a coalition, do not have a coalition agreement and cannot nominate candidates for ministers.
