LGBT activist Bart Staszewski informed on platform X about a meeting with politicians of the current opposition, where he presented the demands of the rainbow community on behalf of 47 LGBT+ organizations. They are included in the ‘First Aid Package for the LGBT+ Community’, the implementation of which Staszewski and the circles he represented at the meeting are demanding from the ‘democratic camp’.
Politicians from the Civic Coalition, Poland 2050 and the Left took part in the meeting with Staszewski. Among them were Barbara Nowacka, Monika Rosa, Marzena Okła-Drewnowicz and Aleksandra Gajewska.
Happening! Today we met with @KObywatelska, @PL_2050 and @__Lewica to show that the first need of the LGBT+ community is to end hate speech in our country. As representative of 47 LGBT+ organizations, we demand that the democratic camp implement the “First Aid Package for the LGBT+ Community”
– wrote the activist.
What should the package mentioned by Staszewski include?
We are not giving up on any demands of the LGBT+ community, but we are first demanding urgent first aid from the new government – a law that will guarantee the safety of LGBT+ people living in Poland.
What is a first aid kit?
– Amendment to the Criminal Code – ban on hate speech based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
-Depoliticization of the public media and the National Broadcasting Council.
-Creating a cooperation channel with LGBT+ organizations at government level.
-Suspension of ongoing National Freedom Institute and Justice Fund grant competitions and audit of resolved grant competitions.
– Distancing ourselves from the discriminatory policies of the previous government
– we will read in the next message.
It will not be a surprise if a possible future government, led by Donald Tusk, will tackle such issues instead of implementing the promises made to the Poles.
