Establishing a government program to combat domestic violence for the period 2024-2030 is the main goal of the resolution the government adopted on Monday. The program included: increasing preventive activities and improving the availability and effectiveness of protection for people who experience such violence.
As indicated in the statement after the meeting of the Council of Ministers, the cabinet wants to increase the effectiveness of help and support for people at risk and exposed to domestic violence.
Program for 7 years
This includes: for more preventive measures and better availability and effectiveness of protection for people who experience such violence. The program also includes raising the level of competence of representatives of institutions and entities carrying out tasks related to the fight against domestic violence, in order to improve the quality and availability of services provided.
The program will be implemented over a period of seven years, i.e. in the years 2024–2030. The provisions of the program provide for the continuation of the activities carried out so far within the framework of the National Program to Combat Domestic Violence for the period 2014-2020 and the subsequent activities adopted in the annual perspectives for 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Increasing awareness and prevention
The program’s key solutions include: increasing social awareness on combating domestic violence; development, strengthening and dissemination of preventive measures to combat domestic violence; improving the quality of services provided to people at risk of or experiencing domestic violence; increasing access to specialist help for people experiencing domestic violence; intensifying and improving the quality of activities targeting people who experience domestic violence, and improving the qualifications and competences of people providing services to people at risk of or experiencing domestic violence.
As justified in the statement following the meeting of the Council of Ministers, this solution will allow effective planning of expenditure on tasks related to the fight against domestic violence. This concerns, for example, the functioning of specialized support centers for people who experience domestic violence, but also the continuation of existing activities that are assessed as effective in the evaluation research.
