Russia is still interested in weakening the West through an artificial migration route – wrote Stanisław Żaryn, Deputy Minister Coordinator of Special Services, on Platform to travel.
Stanisław Żaryn said on social media on Saturday that “a hybrid operation is underway that destabilizes Belarus’ borders with Poland, Lithuania and Latvia.”
“Russia is still interested in weakening the West by using an artificial migration route. Recent information indicates that these actions could be strengthened.”
– he emphasized.
“In recent days, more materials encouraging migration have been published. This concerns advertising material that encourages foreigners, among other things, from Arab countries to travel to Europe. Many advertisements talk about traveling through Russia.
– wrote the Deputy Minister-Coordinator of Special Services.
As Żaryn notes, “since the start of the hybrid operation against Poland, the migration route has been a stimulated process.”
“Travel agencies, state institutions of Russia and Belarus, state carriers, services – various institutions are involved in activities against Eastern Europe.
– added.
The Border Guard announced on Saturday that 77 people tried to illegally cross the Belarusian-Polish border and reach Poland in the past 24 hours. These people included citizens of Morocco, South Africa and Iran. 39 of these people returned to Belarus after seeing Polish patrols.
Migrants stopped at this border by Podlasie Border Guard officers in 2023 came from more than 50 countries.
On the 186 km long border with Belarus, a 5.5 meter high steel barrier was built in 2022, which is the most important element to secure this border against illegal migration. It is supplemented by a system of cameras and sensors, installed 206 km from this border and fully used by the Polish border services.
