On the morning of Saturday, October 28, the Sant Joan d’Alacant City Council hosted an official reception for the La Paz Music Society to mark the recent success of the Sant Joan cultural property. Winning first prize and special mention at the 43rd Valencian Community Band CompetitionIt took place last Sunday the 22nd at the Palau de Les Arts in Valencia.
A few days after receiving the said award, The directors, artistic management and most of the members of the music institution went to the City Hall and received congratulations from the municipality.The event was attended by local festival organizations as well.
Corporate event held in the general assembly hall, This consisted of the signatures of the organization’s president, José Ángel Espídos, and the group’s director, Joan Espinosa, on the Llibre d’Or of the Sant Joan City Council.. Behind them were all the musicians who wanted to leave their mark clearly by signing this historical moment to the musical entity created in Sant Joan in 1871.
During the event, Mayor Santiago Román announced that the City Council will begin the process of awarding the Town of Sant Joan d’Alacant Medal to the La Paz Music Society.. In the presence of spokesmen from the four municipal political groups, Román declared: “The Ordinance of Municipal Honors and Titles considers the Town Medal as an decoration created to reward outstanding merits occurring in outstanding personalities, organizations or companies. Their meritorious duties and performance for the benefit and honor of the people, La “The Paz Music Society deserves to have achieved more than it deserves in its 151-year history.”
