Valencian Community to accept at least 350 immigrants from the Canary Islands. This was announced in Alicante by Government delegate Pilar Bernabé, who warned that this “dynamic and changing” figure could increase, given the constant arrival of cayucos in the archipelago. The announcement came amid controversy in some PP-ruled communities over criticism of what was deemed poor planning by the central executive.
Bernabé pointed out that the Canary Islands need the support of the autonomous communities and He emphasized that the Valencian Community sets an example in this regard.Remembering the arrival of Aquarius, where more than 650 immigrants traveled. “This,” he explains, “made us better people, made us a welcoming community and a reference and example of a worldwide community of solidarity.”
In this sense and in reference to the criticisms heard in the last hours, the delegate emphasized the following: “It is time to put an end to hate speech that has nothing to do with the sensitivity and spirit of Valencians.Dr. stated that the institutions that will welcome immigrants “have historically worked with people who have been accepted and who have informed us of their availability in terms of space.”
Stating that the process will be carried out in a “safe and legal” manner, Erdoğan conveyed the figure of 350 immigrants to the Generalitat’s second vice president, Susana Camarero, and made the following statement: “It changes due to daily arrivals in the Canary Islands.” He also underlined that as a result of this dynamic affecting the islands, the work will have to be done very quickly.
Regarding the methodology, he stated that municipalities will be informed about how the arrival of these immigrants, whom he described as “people who are destroyed, exhausted, exhausted, and in need of rest”, took place. Moreover He made it clear that the central government would be responsible for maintenance and accommodation.
