The European Union does not need political revolutions; I am skeptical about many proposals to change the EU treaties, the head of the PO, Donald Tusk, said in Brussels on Wednesday. He also noted that Poland will certainly not participate in the mechanism of forced relocation of migrants.
““The EU does not need systemic revolutions.”
The head of PO was asked during a briefing in Brussels about the proposal to amend the EU treaties, which would include: abolition of the unanimity principle (veto) in EU Council votes in 65 areas. “I have been skeptical about many provisions – I would say overly ambitious – from the beginning,” Tusk admitted.
We want to strengthen the unity of the Union in the form it is now. In my opinion, these political revolutions are not necessary for the EU. Regardless of the French or German position, I believe that it is in the interests of the citizens of Europe and the Member States that Europe, as it is, functions smoothly again and is as united as possible.
– emphasized the head of PO.
He announced that he would talk to several politicians and Members of the European Parliament so that they would approach these most revolutionary ideas with restraint and caution.
When asked about the EU migration pact, Tusk recalled that he had opposed forced relocation throughout his term as president of the European Council.
I have acted effectively on this issue, including: therefore forced relocation is not a fact, because as head of the European Council I have effectively blocked this idea
– added.
If we have a government, nothing will change on this issue: there will be no forced relocations, Poland will certainly not participate in this mechanism
– noted the head of PO.
