We will establish as soon as possible an investigative committee that will clarify the issue of the alleged use of operational control against representatives of opposition groups, which was mentioned by the former head of the CBA, Paweł Wojtunik. We will take care of it, said Piotr Zgorzelski (PSL), deputy chairman of the Sejm, on TVN24 on Sunday.
Saturday evening on TVN24, Wojtunik said that he had received information from various sources about a meeting at the CBA Training and Conference Center in Lucień (Mazovia Voivodeship), where decisions were to be made on the massive use of operational control against representatives of opposition groups. The wiretapping would last five days — which under law could happen without judicial oversight, only with the consent of the attorney general.
Wojtunik on TVN24 also asked – directing questions to the Coordinator of Special Services and the Head of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, Mariusz Kamiński – whether it is true that the “decisions, instructions and recommendations taken at that time” were particularly focused on the Third Way. He also asks whether the minister-coordinator of the secret services or his deputy will participate in such a meeting.
When asked on TVN24 on Sunday if he knew anything about the alleged wiretapping, Zgorzelski said it was suspected that such activities could have been carried out in his community. He explained that the secret services tend to repeat certain patterns and behaviors: “If the opposition was tapped in 2019, why wouldn’t it happen in 2023?”
When asked if he had knowledge about eavesdropping, he replied that he did not, but he believed Wojtunik’s words because he is – in his opinion – “such a serious person that he would not have made such accusations if he had not received the information he had given’. receives from services of which he was head.
The PSL politician also addressed the deputy head of funds and regional policy, Marcin Horała, who was present in the studio: “I assure you that this smile will immediately disappear from your face, as soon as an investigative committee can be appointed to investigate this We will investigate, Mr Minister, and you will see who was right, I am convinced that I was right.’
Stanisław Żaryn, Deputy Minister of the Coordinator of Special Services, commented on Wojtunik’s words in an interview with PAP on Saturday, assessing that he has been using his interviews for several days “to spread lies and insinuations against the services”.
This time, Wojtunik is spreading lies about the alleged surveillance of the opposition during the elections
– he pointed.
Żaryn: The secret services operate within the limits of the law
It’s not true. Special services operate within the limits of the law and on the basis of regulations
– assured Żaryn.
Wojtunik himself admits that he spreads the rumors that reach him and discredits himself. But his activities, supported by the media and some politicians, are particularly damaging to Poland
– said the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Prime Minister’s office.
Żaryn believes that “spreading similar lies undermines Poland’s security and is intended to inflame public opinion and destabilize society.”
These actions are reprehensible and undignified
– he assessed.
