I suspect that the issue of abortion will not be included in the coalition agreement due to the opposition of the coalition partner; the project to amend the law on termination of pregnancy will not be a government project in this scheme; The left will submit a parliamentary bill to the Sejm – said Anna Maria Żukowska (left) in the first program of Polish Radio.
The day before yesterday, the president of PSL, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, was asked on Radio Zet about the fact that KO and the left want to introduce the right to abortion until the twelfth week of pregnancy and whether the issue of abortion will be part of the coalition agreement, responded that “no ideological issues can ever be part of the coalition agreement.”
Left bends
And on this point I do not agree with including ideological issues in the coalition agreement
– declared leader of the People’s Party.
When asked whether the coalition agreement would also include the issue of amending the abortion law, Anna Maria Żukowska responded conciliatory.
I think it will not be included due to the opposition of the coalition partner. There will be a so-called discrepancy protocol, whereby we enter matters that are not on behalf of the government, but can be reported on behalf of the party
– said Żukowska.
According to her, “the project to change the law on termination of pregnancy in this regulation will certainly not be a government project.”
The Left will submit a bill and for it we will seek support in the Sejm and public support
– she inquired. She expressed hope that this support would be found.
Żukowska also confirmed that the New Left would demand that the new coalition agreement be open to the public.
Abortion compromise
However, the issue of liberalizing abortion laws in Poland is of great importance to the New Left. Katarzyna Kotula, a member of parliament from this formation, assured the day after Sunday’s parliamentary elections that the Civic Coalition was in line with the left-wing opinion on the issue.
However, today the same MP Kotula stated in an interview for Dziennik Gazeta Prawna that the New Left can make concessions in the context of the demand for liberalization of the right to termination of pregnancy, calling this a “compromise”.
However, Kotula publicly noted that people with left-wing views also voted for the Third Way, in the so-called “strategic voting”.
The rights of employees are also excluded
The New Left MP also noted that in the case of restrictions on Sunday trading, her party was in favor of such a solution, but in the interest of the coalition, in which politicians of liberal origin have a majority, the New Left will do so. don’t put this issue “on a razor’s edge.”
I have the impression that Sunday shopping will return, but we will fight for the demands of trade unionists regarding wages
– said Żukowska.
