It is not true that the introduction of the Central Register of Voters and the mObywatel application had an impact on voter mobility – emphasized Janusz Cieszyński, Minister of Digitalization.*
The application and CRW had no influence on “election tourism”
The politician was referring to allegations appearing in the media that the mObywatel application made it easier for voters to vote in each district, which was intended to encourage opposition voters to engage in “election tourism”.
Janusz Cieszyński emphasized that both the introduction of the mObywatel application and the Central Electoral Register had no impact on the movement of voters.
The politician also cited statistics. A total of 20.6 million votes were cast in the second round of the 2020 presidential election. Among them 1.47 million, i.e 7.1 percentare voters who voted by certificate and were added to the list.
A total of 21.97 million people voted in Sunday’s parliamentary elections – 1.53 million people were added to the list and voted by certificate, i.e. 6.9 percent
The Minister of Digitalization points out that neither the Central Register of Voters nor the mObywatel application are available has not made it any easier to add yourself to the electoral roll.
The service remained unchanged (ePUAP form) and was already operational during the previous elections. As before, collecting the certificate required a personal visit to the municipal office.
