We have information about disinformation activities in cyberspace during the latter part of the election campaign – the Scientific and Academic Computer Network – National Research Institute (NASK) warned today.
In recent days, CERT Polska experts have received information about ongoing disinformation activities in cyberspace. They warned voters that the last days of the election campaign were a period of particular threat from external entities that might want to influence the conduct of the elections for the Sejm and the Senate.
The campaigns identified by NASK experts involve disinformers sending fake emails and text messages with false program proposals posing as the Electoral Commission for Law and Justice.
Mass transmission of fake news
To send such messages, use was made of, among other things: unsecured domains with names similar to those used by the electoral committee, and SMS gateways used for mass sending of messages.
NASK recalls that the programs of election commissions are available on their official websites and on verified social media profiles. Election messages from unknown senders should be checked.
We ask the editors to approach the matter responsibly and not to reproduce false information intended to influence the conduct of the elections in Poland by foreign centers.
– appealed.
Massive disinformation text messages have been sent in recent hours, which we as PiS have nothing to do with. Stop fraud and manipulation
– PiS spokesperson Rafał Bochenek wrote on the X platform.

The situation was also raised by the Minister – Plenipotentiary of the Government for the Security of the Information Space of the Republic of Poland, Stanisław Żaryn, who warned public opinion about increased disinformation activities during the last part of the election campaign in Poland.
❗️WARNING DISINFORMATION❗️ ⚠️There are further reports of the spread of text messages in Poland, which are part of a disinformation operation against Poland. Yesterday I warned about such actions, which are part of the Russian operation against the elections in the Republic of Poland
– wrote Stanisław Żaryn on the X platform.
The authors of disinformation always hope to achieve the intended effect – in this case, to stir up hostility towards the ruling party. The success of the operation against Poland will also depend on the response of the recipients, including the media
– added the minister.
