The ex-president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko was able to leave the country for the third time. This was announced by Victoria Syumar, her party’s deputy (“European Solidarity”).
In social networks, he wrote that Poroshenko left “for the European People’s Party summit”, which took place in the Netherlands.
He made his first attempt to leave Ukraine on Friday, May 27. Poroshenko came with an escort to the Rava-Russkaya checkpoint of the Lviv customs, giving the border guards copies of the order of the Rada speaker on a business trip and a letter from an employee of the parliamentary apparatus to the Lithuanian authorities ( then Poroshenko was going to Vilnius for the NATO Parliamentary Assembly).
But the border guards could not establish the authenticity of the documents and the QR code was not taken into account. It’s happened twice.
MP Irina Gerashchenko said Poroshenko was not allowed to leave the country “without explanation”: “The border guards were talking some nonsense about a “fake or canceled order”.

The third attempt to leave the country is connected with Poroshenko’s participation in the congress and summit of the European People’s Party. According to Ukrayinska Pravda, before the politician was released from the country, he turned to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and convinced him that he was acting for the good of the state.
The former Ukrainian leader’s plans include a call to grant Ukraine EU candidate status in June, as well as financial support and approval of the “Marshall Plan 2.0” to rebuild Ukraine after the end of hostilities.
“Who’s interest in stopping me at the border with so much clarity in goals and messages?” Quoted by Poroshenko, Izvestia.
The politician posted on his Telegram channel a post in which he was sure that he had all the necessary documents for a business trip to Rotterdam.
“At the EPP Congress and Summit, I am scheduled to speak at a series of meetings with EU leaders, country states and governments, leaders of European parties,” he said.
As part of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly delegation, Poroshenko expressed hope that “no one will prevent him from going to Rotterdam” after the “illegal interruption” of the trip.
A week ago, on May 23, the Security Service of Ukraine reported that the previously arrested Opposition Party – Lifetime (OPPL) leader Viktor Medvedchuk said during interrogation that Poroshenko was the initiator of the Coal trade. Oversaw the privatization of DPR and LPR and Samara – Western Direction.
“Describing the essence of the project, Medvedchuk detailed the role of former President Petro Poroshenko in this plan. That is, to Medvedchuk not only with a request to contact the Russian leadership, but also for ensuring that the necessary decisions are made in all cases of Ukraine, ”said Medvedchuk.
Poroshenko is accused of treason and aiding terrorism in case of coal supply from Donbass, faces 15 years. According to the SBU, the courts, the prosecution, the anti-monopoly committee and the state property fund acted in the interests of the country’s former president.
According to inspectors, the volume of purchases of raw materials was about $ 8 million, the program was debugged in 2014-2015. All senior officials were allegedly involved in the process, “starting with the president and ending with ministers, law enforcement and those who directly implement him”.
As for Medvedchuk’s testimony, the lawyer of European Solidarity party leader Igor Golovan described the SBU report as a “PR campaign”.
“First, it’s not theirs. [СБУ] case, this must be done by the SBI [Госбюро расследований]. And what the SBU says about it confirms that it has nothing to do with truth and law,” Suspilne (“Public”) quotes Golovan.
