Voting has begun in regional parliamentary elections in Germany’s two federal states (Bavaria and Hessen). transmits TASS. According to the agency, both election campaigns could end in failure for German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s Social Democratic Party (SPD), according to analysts.

As TASS noted, voting centers in Bavaria and Hesse will be open until 18:00 (19:00 Moscow time). The counting of votes will continue until October 9, with the results being announced gradually.

According to the latest polls, candidates from the opposition parties Christian Social Union (CSU) and Christian Democratic Union (CDU) are leading in both Bavaria and Hesse. The CDU/CSU bloc is Germany’s former ruling force, which lost its majority in 2021. It was replaced by a coalition consisting of the SPD, the Greens and the Free Democratic Party of Germany.
