“As citizens and as President, I regret that border guards are being humiliated and blamed; resorting to lies and slander to the detriment of Poland and at the expense of officers is despicable,” President Andrzej Duda said at the ceremony on the market square in Włodawa, which included decorated border guards. He highlighted that among them were two female officers who were attacked and injured while on duty.
This is the price that is unfortunately sometimes paid by an officer who diligently fulfills his duties, and unfortunately also by his family members
– he said, thanking the uniformed officers.
I would like to express my deep regret and sadness at the same time. I am simply sorry – on the one hand as a Pole, as a citizen, but I am also, and perhaps especially, sorry as President of the Republic of Poland, responsible for the security of Poland, for the indivisibility of its territory and its territory. sustainability, and therefore for the security of borders – that you are insulted by irresponsible people
– Andrzej Duda commented.
According to the president, officers are humiliated and blamed. According to him, there are also attempts to “trample on the dignity of the Polish uniform and our state symbols.”
We have a democracy. We wanted it, we got it, everyone can have their own opinion. Unfortunately, some people, strongly realizing their beliefs, resort to lies and slander, the brutal spread of falsehood, to the detriment of Poland, to the detriment of all of us, to the detriment of Polish officials and their loved ones. This is meanness
– said the president.
The limits of freedom
The president also wondered “whether this falls within the boundaries of freedom of expression.” In his opinion, this is “at least a moot point”.
Whether this falls within the bounds of what some people try to call the freedom of artistic creation, I think is at least debatable. Personally, I will never agree with this. I believe the boundaries have been crossed. And that’s a long way. Especially since this untruth, this slander, is also spread outside the Republic of Poland
– he said.
Duda also stated: “No one will lie to Poland and no one will deceive Poland, especially the wise ones who soberly look at the reality around us and understand the situation.” However, according to him, not everyone outside the country needs to be aware of the situation at the Polish-Belarusian border.
Perhaps the lie is meant to sell well there, especially among those who want to harm Poland, who are rubbing their hands that Polish affairs and Polish interests abroad can be attacked by creating a false image of our country, are authorities and officials. Maybe this has a purpose
– said Andrzej Duda.
