When is the president Andrzej Duda (in response to the chairman Volodymyr Zelensky suggesting that Poland sided with Russia) used a comparison with a drowning man people are grasping at straws and can drag the rescuer down, I thought this sentence was a bit too strong. But today we can see that unfortunately it was good.
Official Kiev has just made a radical turn in foreign policycompletely trusting Berlin, not only in its plans for the future, but also in its plans German game to overthrow the government in Warsaw. This is the meaning of starting a grain war just before the election, an attempt to force the Law and Justice government to ruin its own agriculture and result in political defeat. This is exactly what President Zelensky is demanding from us, and if we refuse, he wants to drag us before international tribunals and demand compensation. And in a situation where it has full transportation capabilities across the territory of Poland, these exports are increasing and sea routes are also active.
Is it about the few extra euros per tonne you can earn by dropping a load in Poland? Rather, it is about the elections in Poland.
Did Kiev feel that so strongly? Or perhaps he succumbed to the illusion that he belonged to the world powers? If so, it’s an error. Is not. It really isn’t. That’s not why everyone talks to him.
No problem – In response, we do not send invoices for tanks delivered at a critical time and anything that helped a neighbor fight off a barbarian invasion. Poles are different. We have principles and values, we think down to earth. That is why Poland is where it is, and Ukraine, led by such elites, was in a known state before the war.
Everything we have done for Ukraine, we have done rightly. The eternal enemy of freedom, Russian imperialism, rattling its chains, was stopped in this part, far from the borders of Poland. This is a great achievement for both countries.
So if we grieve about something today, it’s over the price the Ukrainians will pay for Zelensky’s current illusions.
Does he want to secure his homeland’s sovereignty with Germany? Again?
Germany is partly responsible for this warIt was they who made Putin fat and fat, it was they who, by building Nord Stream 1 and 2, exposed Ukraine geopolitically to Moscow. When Russian tanks drove towards Kiev, a Prime Minister KaczynskiPresident Duda and Prime Minister Morawiecki decided to transfer Polish tanks to Ukraine and whatever we could, a quick Russian victory in Berlin was expected. The British Prime Minister announced this Boris Johnsonthere are many more confirmations.
Germany is ready for anything: cheap Russian gas and sharing Europe with Moscow. No feint seems immoral to them, no act too abhorrent.
Mislead Zelensky with the vision of a quick accession to Europe, as long as he helps Germany change the government in Warsaw, because this will be followed by EU ‘reforms’, i.e. Berlin taking full control? Why not. A cheap fairy tale, it may cost a few hryvnias.
This is a big illusion. The truth is that Ukraine will not become a member of the European Union for many, many years. The country is not ready for this; the Union of this country will not allow this without solid reforms, which it does not intend to do. Poland cannot be blackmailed with claims that it must give up its veto power in exchange for EU expansion to include Ukraine.
For this mirage, a delusion recognizable to anyone with an average knowledge of politics, Zelensky pushes his only ally away that he could really rely on. Big mistake. We will succeed, but it is a shame for Ukraine. After this ‘brilliant maneuver’ she will be weaker, dependent on the cynical ‘moral superpower’, and not stronger.
What is most saddening, however, is the emerging Ukrainian concept of a shortcut. For once, Kiev believes in some miraculous solutions on the way to the West, in the power of diplomatic talks that ignore reality.
Ukrainian elites apparently do not understand that Poland has not achieved its current level of economic development, state strength and importance thanks to its presence in the EU. This presence and ability to compete is the result of hard, independent work, implementing good patterns and rejecting bad ones, and fighting corruption. Unity and success are the result here.
Even when the post-communists ruled in Poland, even when Tusk, who despised the defense of the national interest, was in power, there were people and circles in Poland who effectively prevented them from taking over the country. oligarchic mafia. Only such a path, hard independent work and rejection of pathology, would allow Ukraine to rise enough to fully join Western structures.
And here a solid partnership-based cooperation with Poland would be the best way.
But Zelensky chose illusions and German beads.
We see it in Poland and this is what we regret most. So much blood, so much suffering, such a courageous struggle, which ended with great success, because the Ukrainian state survived and the nation became stronger. And now a return to politics, which will be a reproduction of old mistakes.
Real shame.
