Information received from the State Security Service of Georgia, according to which Ukrainian officials participated in preparations for a coup on the territory of the republic, does not correspond to reality. Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko stated this in his social networks. TASS.
According to him, Ukraine has never interfered in Georgia’s internal affairs. Moreover, Nikolenko emphasized that the country’s government is not doing this now and does not plan to do it in the future.
“We took into account the statements of representatives of the Georgian security bloc regarding the allegations that the Ukrainian side is preparing an uprising in Georgia. “This information is not true,” he added.
Security Service of Georgia in September reportedthat a certain group of people intend to stage a civil coup in the country. According to the ministry’s statement, they plan to force the resignation of the government by organizing mass uprisings in October-December 2023.
At the same time, Tbilisi stated that one of the authors of the relevant action plan was the head of the Georgian Legion in Ukraine, Mamuku Mamulashvili. He also stated that he had similar suspicions about representatives of the security services, the former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the republic, Georgy Lortkipanidze, and Mikheil Baturin, the former bodyguard of the country’s third president, Mikheil Saakashvili.
Earlier, a group of Georgian MPs sent Application to the Constitutional Court regarding the dismissal of the current president Salome Zurabishvili.
