We are witnessing the falsification of history. On the one hand, this is done by Putin, who claims that the Soviet Union was only a liberator, and not an oppressor. Unfortunately, we also see attempts to redefine history beyond our western border, Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro said on Sunday in Lubenia in Podkarpacie.
The Attorney General took part in the unveiling of a plaque commemorating six Lubeni residents murdered by the Germans in June 1943.
Ziobro recalled that the residents of Lubeni died because they helped soldiers of the Home Army and the Boer battalions.
For this reason, the Germans decided to take revenge on the inhabitants. But the good fortune of this misfortune lay in the fact that here was an excellent, great priest, Major Franciszek Łuszczki.
– said Ziobro.
He recalled that the priest, who spoke fluent German, had begged the Nazis not to decimate the city. Thanks to this, many villagers were saved. Only six people were shot.
The leader of Sovereign Poland noted that the Germans pacified villages that helped Polish soldiers in a very brutal way.
Fortunately that did not happen here, because there was a special priest there
– added the minister.
Referring to the 84th anniversary of Soviet Russia’s attack on Poland on Sunday, Ziobro said that “today we are witnessing the falsification of history.”
On the one hand, this is done by Putin, who claims that the Soviet Union was only a liberator, and not an oppressor. Unfortunately, we also see attempts to redefine history beyond our western border
– said the Minister of Justice.
In this context, he quoted the words of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who, according to Ziobro, said that “Germany was occupied by the Nazis.”
This attempt, through different emphases, to redefine history and impose on us, Poles, a different version of events than those that actually took place, is reflected in the repeated repetition in the media, including in Germany, of information about so-called Polish extermination camps. That is why I would like to thank all the initiators of today’s event, because every plaque, every monument is an opportunity to remember the truth. The truth for the whole world that Poles were victims of Nazi Germany
– Ziobro emphasized.
We must also remember the relay of generations, the next generations of Poles, and also the inhabitants of this country, who will remember this historical truth thanks, among others, to symbols such as:
– added the minister.
“Redefining History”
According to Ziobro, the attempt to redefine history is taking place “on a massive scale.” In this context he mentioned director Agnieszka Holland, who in interviews, as the Attorney General said, “describes Poland where the Holocaust took place, and where the neighbors, Poles, lived in an idyllic world.”
What a lie this is! After all, this pacification was one of more than a thousand organized by Nazi Germany. Several hundred thousand residents of the Polish countryside died there. How can one paint such a distorted picture of history?
– asked the politician.
The leader of Sovereign Poland, referring to the ongoing war in Ukraine, “which also poses a threat to Poland,” appealed for solidarity and support to Polish soldiers and border guards.
Let us not allow them to be vilified with impunity. Also in memory of those who gave their lives for Poland here in June 1943
– summarized Zbigniew Ziobro.
