“That is why we urge all Poles to say NO four times in this referendum, because it is actually protection against governments, not only after the October elections, but at any time against politicians who lack credibility. The sovereign, that is, the nation, will express its opinion in this referendum and it will be difficult to ignore it. That is why the referendum is so devalued by PO politicians. They are simply afraid of Poland’s vote,” Tomasz Zieliński, PiS MP, told the wPolityce.pl portal.
wPolityce.pl: What would you say about today’s presentation of the third piece of PiS – the “Lokalna shelf” program?
Tomasz Zielinski: This particular fact, although of course applicable to all of Poland, is largely in the eastern part of our country, where we have beautiful countries. The Lublin region is a typical agricultural region and I have spoken to farmers who are already waiting for further details, which means that the intermediation that has developed is indeed a problem.
The PO-PSL government sold a lot of properties, and these sales also largely involved various types of processing plants, which actually bought and delivered these agricultural products to stores. The whole idea of the ‘Local Shelf’ program is to shorten this path, ie to make it as easy as possible for the farmer to deliver his products to the local store or supplier who supplies the store.
And Polish food is not only very good, but also amazing, sensational. We have a very large production of broccoli and beans, and the foreign middleman also dictates the prices and farmers sometimes become ‘slaves’ to these middlemen.
The announcement of the third rule of PiS caused a very nervous reaction from Mr. Michał Kołodziejczak, who said today that this is actually AgroUnia’s postulate, and he himself unsuccessfully demanded its implementation from successive ministers of agriculture in the United Right government .
Today AgroUnia is part of the Civic Platform, even one of the MPs called it “AgroPlatforma” during her speech, and I liked this term. Today anyone can join or identify with certain demands, but the difference between us and other groups is that we keep our promises. Just look at the program from four years ago, the vast majority of these promises have been fulfilled: the 13th and 14th pensions, free medicines for seniors and young people up to the age of 18. The president of the highway announced: we already have free highways where possible.
Therefore, our main asset is credibility. What we say, we implement. Both this PiS specific and yesterday’s, that is, the improvement of the quality of nutrition in Polish hospitals, are also related to Polish agriculture to some extent. We have really great producers waiting to get these products from them at a decent price.
So next Saturday, as I understand you, you’re going to summarize all these facts? Maybe there will be news too?
Here we always have the rule that details appear every day, so it is a kind of promotion of our program assumptions, but obviously we leave the presentation of these main points of our program to Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński.
I can say with certainty that it will be a very good proposal for the Poles, which will cover all areas of social life.
At the same time, Platforma Obywatelska plans to present its “100 particulars”. However, looking at the activity so far, can we say that there will be something to collect these 100 particulars?
Somehow it’s hard to see the PO program for a number of years. Former Prime Minister Donald Tusk is now seen more as a hater than a serious politician. Unlike Law and Justice, this party is unreliable. They always did the exact opposite of what they said. They promised not to raise the retirement age, but they did anyway. They took money from OFE. It’s hard to see their promises kept.
That is why a referendum is crucial. We may have already “escaped” a bit in the heat of the campaign, but these questions are critical, because we’re basically saying “I’m checking” the Platform’s program here, if there is one. Personally, I don’t believe in their guarantees. They will raise the retirement age, remove the barrier at the border with Belarus, and moreover – they sold almost 1,000 state-owned companies during their reign, and today their economic “authorities”, as Mr. Balcerowicz or Mr. Grabowski say that everything should be privatized, including what threatens national security, such as energy.
And yet the term “privatization” is just quotation marks for the sale of national assets, which will only result in the state becoming an impotent tool.
That is why we urge all Poles to say NO four times in this referendum, because it is actually protection against governments, not only after the October elections, but at any time against politicians who lack credibility. The sovereign, that is, the nation, will express its opinion in this referendum and it will be difficult to ignore it. That is why the referendum is so devalued by PO politicians. They are simply afraid of the Poles’ voice.
Perhaps sometimes it’s even hard to be surprised when you remember PO-PSL’s eight-year reign, including the issues you talked about.
Of course, Poles are taught by experience. But a generation has also grown up that can very quickly verify the content that floods social media today. The statements made by Mr Kosiniak-Kamysz, who was the face of the pension reform (but if it is confirmed that it was carried out in consultation with Angela Merkel, and everything points to it, that would be a scandal) shows that to get rid of it come. For example, PSL deputies who go to the elections with Hołownia are also silent when it comes to the 800+ program. If I remember correctly, they all voted against an increase in this benefit. A referendum is therefore really necessary.
Thank you very much for the interview.
