Vasily Nebenzya, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, said at a meeting of the Security Council that the organization did not take into account the request of the Russian side to provide information to confirm the allegations of sexual violence against the Russian Armed Forces army. It has been reported TASS.
According to him, the accusations against the Russian military are “baseless and absurd”.
“We would like to reiterate once again that we completely reject the allusions in the report… The actions of Russian soldiers in combat and beyond are subject to a single command, strict regulations and statutes, and any illegal action should be immediately communicated to Russia’s UN Secretary-General António Guterres and his special rapporteur. He stressed that he contacted them and asked for data to confirm the allegations.
Nebenzia added that “appeals were not taken into account”.
6 June at the UN Security Council meeting discussed Violence and human trafficking during the conflict in Ukraine. Ukraine and the EU said such crimes were committed by the Russian military.
