European Council President Charles Michel said that the EU respects the stance of Central Asian countries on Ukraine. Announced this at EU-Central Asia summit, reports Reuters.

Michel noted that he understood the close ties of Central Asian countries with Russia.
Earlier, during a meeting with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, Michel discussed promised to discuss with him on the sidelines of the G7 summit EU support for Ukraine and the state’s hopes of joining the European Union at the end of the year.
According to Representative Michel, the President thanked the Ukrainian leader for “ongoing judicial reforms and the fight against corruption, and confirmed his intention to take this issue to the Council of Europe before the end of the year.”
The head of the European Council added that he spoke with Zelensky about EU assistance to Ukraine and in favor of preparing a multi-year macro-financial economic package for the state.
