Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced that he canceled his trip to Bratislava due to the worsening of the situation in northern Kosovo and Metohija. He announced this on social networks.
I am canceling the Bratislava trip, staying with my people and soldiers. Serbia will win! – said in the message of the head of state.
On May 30, Vučić posted on social networks Serbia’s tries maintaining stability in the region. He added that Belgrade has requested security guarantees for Serbs in the region.
Vyosa Osmani, ex-president of the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo spoke Riots against Vučić in the north of the region, accusations of organizing attacks against police officers, a NATO KFOR unit and journalists.
The previous day, thousands of Kosovo Serbs gathered in front of local government buildings in the north of the province to demand the withdrawal of the police and the recall of Kosovo Albanian mayors. NATO troops were sent to the buildings of the municipalities of KFOR, Zvechan, Leposavich and Zubin Potok. Behind them were the Kosovo police forces, who kept the Kosovo Serbs out of the buildings. Around 17:00 (18:00 Moscow time), clashes broke out between residents and security forces.
