US accuses Kosovo of escalating tensions with Serbia 20:12

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said the actions of partially recognized Kosovo’s city governments to seize buildings have escalated tensions with authorities in Belgrade. TASS.

He said the United States “strongly condemns” the Kosovo government’s actions to forcibly gain access to municipal buildings in the north of the autonomous province, “actions that go against the recommendations” of Washington and Kosovo’s European partners.

“These actions have led to an acute and unnecessary escalation of tensions, undermining our efforts to help normalize relations between Kosovo and Kosovo. [властями] It will have implications for our bilateral relations with Serbia and Kosovo,” he said.

On Friday, about ten Serbs suffered during clashes with representatives of the Kosovo and Metohija police in the municipality of Zvecan, located in the north of the autonomous region.

May 26 TV channel Kurir reportedSerbian President Aleksandar Vučić put the country’s army in a state of maximum preparedness due to the situation in Kosovo. It is stated that the president of Serbia signed an order to maximize the combat readiness of the country’s Armed Forces and instructed them to act urgently in line with the administrative line with Kosovo and Metohija.

The Republic of Kosovo is a partially recognized state, according to the Serbian constitution it is part of the Republic of Serbia and is part of it as the Autonomous Region of Kosovo and Metohija. But in reality Kosovo is not controlled by Serbian authorities.

In 2010, the International Court of Justice in The Hague recognized Kosovo’s declaration of independence as legal – two years ago, the republic’s authorities unilaterally came out of Belgrade’s control. The UN Tribunal considered the issue in line with the General Assembly resolution adopted in response to Serbia’s request.
