Russian President Vladimir Putin’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, said at a briefing that he will attend Easter service at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior on April 15.
“Tomorrow the president will be at Easter Mass. “He will be in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior,” the Kremlin spokesman said.
Last year, the president traditionally I joined Easter Mass in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.
In 2021, Vladimir Putin, together with Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, attended the Easter service in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Congratulating the Russians on the holiday, the President noted that Easter personifies the triumph of life, goodness and justice, awakens faith, hope and the desire to help others.
Putin missed Easter mass only once in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. But he put a candle in the chapel in Novo-Ogaryovo.
Putin also attended Easter celebrations outside the capital twice: in 2000, in St. Petersburg in St. Isaac’s Cathedral and in Dushanbe, where he made an official visit in 2003, St. Nicholas Cathedral.
