The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland has closed the branch of the Consulate General in Petrozavodsk, Russia, in the Republic of Karelia. This is stated in a post at: Web site Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to temporarily close the Petrozavodsk branch operating under the Consulate General of St. Petersburg,” the report said.
The facility is suspended until further notice. The Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that there is currently no need for a branch office in Petrozavodsk due to a significant reduction in the tasks performed. It can be opened later if needed.

The remaining representations of the Finnish Foreign Ministry in Russia will continue to work as usual – this is the embassy in Moscow and St. Petersburg consulate general.
