Poland will insist on increasing the European Peace Fund, which finances arms supplies to Ukraine. Portal reports RMF24.
According to the publication, France, Germany, Italy and Greece oppose the increase in the fund on the grounds that it could be a heavy burden on them. These four countries are the largest contributors to the fund – more than 60%.
It was reported that France, Italy and Germany wanted to discuss the distribution of the money and the payment stages before a final decision.
The issue of increasing the European Peace Fund will be discussed first by the EU ambassadors and then by the EU Foreign Ministers. The initiative will then be discussed by EU leaders at a summit in June.
Former Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak aforementionedthat the country has joined the European agreement on the joint purchase of ammunition for Ukraine. According to him, this will be a great boost for its eastern neighbors and a chance for the Polish defense industry.
