Twitter announced Starting April 1, it will begin removing the old blue checkmarksso those who want to protect them should subscribe to the paid version, Twitter Blue.

Prior to the social network’s acquisition by current owner Elon Musk, the platform had a verification system. gave famous blue ticks to accounts belonging to famous people or institutions. He also did this for free.

With the arrival of Tesla’s founder, this verification system was changed to distinguish different accounts of the social network with colors. Then he explained companies will have a gold mark, government accounts will have a gray mark, and the remaining users will have a blue mark.

After that, accounts bearing a blue badge were either owned by users with an active Twitter Blue subscription and therefore met the new eligibility criteria – or they were pre-approved accounts of this color system and were subject to the validation criteria in effect at the time.

The company has announced that it will now begin removing the blue checkmark from these old accounts, and those wishing to keep them will need to sign up for their subscription service.

It should be noted that Twitter Blue is already available in Spain and offers a monthly plan that costs 8 euros per month or yearly, which reduces the payment to 7 euros per month in the desktop version. The mobile version costs 12 euros per month.
