We ask the European Commission to support our farmers with additional funds that could compensate them for losses related to the transportation of Ukrainian agri-food products through our country, Polish Deputy Agriculture Minister Ryszard Bartosik told journalists in Brussels on Monday.
I referred to the issue of the impact of the transport of Ukrainian agri-food products through the territory of our country, solidarity corridors, but also the impact on the Polish grain market. We ask the European Commission to support our farmers with additional resources that can compensate them for their losses. Everything indicates that this decision will be taken in the coming days. Commissioner (for Agriculture) Janusz Wojciechowski has informed me that the regulation on this issue is ready and funds from the reserve allocated for this purpose will be received in Poland and we can provide this support to farmers
– informed Bartosik after the meeting of EU agriculture ministers.
The amount of aid from the EU is 30 million euros. The aid may be supplemented by an equivalent amount from national resources.
Of course we want to help Ukraine, we will help Ukraine. But we also have to take care of our farmers. These actions go in this direction to protect our agricultural market. Therefore, soon after the final decision of the European Commission, aid to Polish farmers, wheat and corn producers will be launched in our country
– declared the Deputy Minister.
He drew attention to the complicated situation in the grain market.
Due to the fact that we were afraid of the lack of this grain, when the war broke out, prices rose, and today this grain appears on the stock exchanges, on the markets, and this is one of the main reasons for the fall in prices. But our market, especially in eastern Poland, is affected by grain that does not go further, but goes to the Polish market. Therefore, this compensation for farmers is very justified
Bartosik said.
I would like to remind you that we are constantly monitoring the quality of this grain and recently, in consultation with the Minister of Agriculture of Ukraine, we decided that Ukrainian grain shipments will be sealed and the grain delivered to the recipient so that nothing happens on the way nothing with it, ie let it stay in our country
– added.
As the deputy minister revealed, during a meeting with other heads of agricultural ministries of EU countries, he came up with the idea of introducing a deposit for the transport of grain from Ukraine.
Here too we need permission from the EC. This is a claim that has just been filed. (…) Ukraine is a huge producer. We mainly want to be a transit country, not a destination country for agri-food products from Ukraine
Bartosik concluded.
“Worms can’t compete with Polish pork chops”
Polish food is the best in the world; if someone wants, he can eat worms, but it is important not to force anyone into anything, Ryszard Bartosik, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Poland, said in Brussels on Monday.
Worms cannot compete with Polish chops, because Polish food is the best in the world and nothing can replace it. Of course, if a person wants, he can try worms, earthworms – it’s his free will. It is important not to force anyone into anything. Let everyone eat and make decisions as they see fit
– emphasized Ryszard Bartosik after the meeting of EU Agriculture Ministers.
I encourage everyone to eat Polish meat, drink Polish milk and all agricultural and food products from Poland, because we have the best food in the world
he repeated.
