Shmygal says Ukraine plans to join EU in 2 years 09:18

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal said that Kiev has an “ambitious plan” to join the EU in two years, but few in the EU find it realistic. These release reports Policy.

“We have a very ambitious plan to join the EU in the next two years,” said Shmyhal.

The Ukrainian prime minister also stressed that this year’s negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU should have a preliminary stage.

The newspaper noted that such a scenario for the inclusion of Ukraine in the European Union by 2025 “no one in the organization finds it realistic”.

Ukraine’s close allies in the EU, such as Poland and the Baltic states, are said to strongly support Kiev’s aspirations to join the union. However, other countries are more cautious in their estimates.

“Expectations from Kiev are quite high, but all the conditions set by the European Commission must be met,” said a senior European official.
