Nearly the entire citizens’ coalition abstained on the amendment to the Supreme Court law, marking a milestone on KPO. Donald Tusk tried to convince: “We made the decision to vote for European money because we were aware – and the next few days will show – that we were right, that this proposal could free up European funds.” The head of the PO was defended by Roman Giertych. Moreover, the lawyer is already rubbing his hands as he talks about the election won by Tusk.

PO voted for EU funds?
On Friday, the Sejm approved an amendment to the Supreme Court law, which the authors say should mark an important “milestone” for the European Commission to unblock funds from the KPO. 203 MPs voted in favor of the amendment, 52 opposed it and 189 abstained. Nearly all PiS MPs voted for the amendment to the Supreme Court Act. Solidarna Polska, Konfederacja and Polska 2050 were against. Members of parliament from the Civic Coalition, the Left and KP-PSL abstained in the vast majority.
Tusk stated that “we received a document that we knew was – to say the least – imperfect, but which we knew – I knew – presented a real opportunity to unlock this money.”
I want to win the elections. The real rule of law in Poland, the return of the rule of law in Poland will only be possible after winning the elections
– said the head of the PO at a meeting in Gdańsk.
Giertych defends Tusk
Roman Giertych referenced Donald Tusk’s words in a video posted on social media. As he said, this is in response to the “outrage”, and Tusk’s decision was motivated by the election won by the PO.
Tusk was faced with a dilemma: either he agreed to be blamed for higher prices in the stores and KPO’s lack of money until the end of the campaign, or exposed himself to harsh remarks from lawyers who wanted this law can not stand. abstention by the opposition. It is a choice between winning the election and the welfare of the legal elite. Tusk chose to win the election. Strange right? You can save the voices of outrage for PiS, not the opposition, because they are simply out of place and show emotional action that some people don’t deserve
– said Roman Giertych.
Government taunts
The lawyer also spared no ridicule and goading towards the government and the prime minister. He accused those in power that the dispute with Brussels was the result of non-compliance with the Polish constitution and international law. At the same time, he stated that he himself was in favor of adopting all the recommendations related to the rule of law, because they are, as he said, “the fulfillment of the Polish Constitution”. He added that Brussels’ comments that the PiS government is violating the constitution are correct.
But the situation in which Mr. Sek agrees, with some commissioner, on a law introducing strange solutions, contrary to the constitution, bizarre in the Polish system, that disciplinary judges will be recognized by the Supreme Administrative Court, is over generally funny
he sneered.
Giertych also added that he was not criticizing the attitude of the opposition, because “Kaczyński wanted to trap Tusk as responsible for the lack of money, inflation, for everything.” For this he spared no words of criticism for the head of the Polish government.
On the one hand, Mr Morawiecki announces that the European Commission is to blame for everything, and then cringes, actually creeps his minister and himself to Brussels, begging that the next milestone won’t be so difficult. (…) This is mockery and grotesque
– said Giertych, adding that all this “will be reflected in the realization of the Brussels officials for many years that you can play Poland”, and the whole situation is the result of the government “violating the Polish constitution, judgments and judgments and international laws”, and the way of “leaving because of this is grotesque, ridiculous and derogatory for Poland”.
Giertych was also tempted to predict that all indications are that “we are facing a period of decline” of the Law and Justice government, and the slogan about getting down on one’s knees has been changed to “crawl before insignificant Brussels officials “.
It seems that Roman Giertych cares a lot about the favorable opinion of Donald Tusk, hence these words about winning the election. Was he hoping that Tusk would change his mind and give him the job of attorney general after a possible election victory?
