Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, at a press conference after meeting with his counterpart from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Christoph Luthundula Apala, said that he considers Russia’s declaration of a ceasefire in the conflicts in Ukraine on Christmas Day as the right decision. It has been reported TASS.
“Our neighbors in Ukraine want to see peace as soon as possible and we know that the way to peace is through ceasefire and peace talks. <...>. That’s why we welcome anything that helps a ceasefire and can contribute to peace negotiations,” he said.
According to the minister, Hungary will continue to do everything to help find a peaceful solution to the Ukrainian conflict.
Previously, the Ministry of Defense promise Observe the ceasefire regime in the NVO region unilaterally until midnight on 8 January. The Russian military department said that Ukrainian troops continue to bombard Russian positions. Following the relevant proposal of Patriarch Kirill, Vladimir Putin declared a “regime of silence” from noon on 6 January. In Kiev, Moscow’s proposal was rejected, and in the West it was said that Russia was using the pause to regroup its troops.
