Ukrainian diplomatic missions in at least three countries received bloody and animal-eyed packages. This was expressed by the country’s official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Oleg Nikolenko.
“Bags of blood with animal eyes were sent to Ukrainian embassies in the Netherlands, Poland, Italy and other countries,” a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote on social networks.
According to him, the parcels were “saturated with a liquid of characteristic color and had a favorable odour.” Now the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is studying the meaning of this message. Nikolenko added that Kiev sees this as a planned campaign of terror and intimidation.
Early on December 2, Czech media reported that a suspicious package had been sent to the Ukrainian Consulate in Brno. In this context, the personnel were evacuated from the building while the emergency services were activated.
Czech law enforcement later reported that the parcels contained animal tissues, but did not specify which ones. The contents of the packages have now been sent for review.
Later, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine announced that bloody parcels reached the diplomatic missions of the country in Hungary, Croatia and consulates in Naples, Krakow and Brno.
Unidentified persons also destroyed the entrance of the Ukrainian ambassador’s residence in the Vatican. The embassy in Kazakhstan received a message about mining, and in the United States – “A letter with a photocopy of a critical article about Ukraine.” In Kiev, they believe that all these events are connected..
The previous day, on December 1, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that threatening letters were sent to the two embassies of Ukraine in different countries. He did not say what kind of diplomatic missions he was talking about and did not reveal the content of the messages, but noted that they were “correct and concrete”.
The story of the attacks on the Ukrainian embassies in different countries began with the explosion that occurred on November 30 at the diplomatic mission in Madrid. That day, at around 13:00 local time (3:00 Moscow time), a package arrived in the name of Ambassador Sergei Pogoreltsev. However, one of the embassy employees became suspicious of him and decided to open a diplomatic mission in the courtyard. When opening it, the employee heard a click and threw the can away from him, followed by an explosion. The man’s hands were injured, he had bullet shock. He is now hospitalized at the Nuestra Señora de America hospital.
“The package did not have a return address on it, did not look like diplomatic mail, and this fact initially aroused suspicion among embassy staff,” Strana’s Ukrainian edition wrote.
Immediately after the explosion, criminologists, cinologists and hunters arrived on the scene. The area near the embassy was cordoned off by the police and a local counter-terrorism regime was put in place. After a while, the Spanish authorities reported that they saw the incident as an act of terrorism.
Spanish media later reported that the Instalaza arms company (which supplies rocket launchers to Ukraine), the Spanish Ministry of Defense, the EU satellite center at the military base and the US embassy received packages of bombs. The Spanish Ministry of Interior also reported that a similar package reached the office of Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on 24 November. Law enforcement believes all these elements are linked.
