The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that the European Union is in favor of expanding cooperation with Central Asian states, including the construction of transport corridors, bypassing the Russian Federation. It has been reported DEA News.
According to him, the Russian Federation and China have played and continue to play a leading role in this region, while Central Asia also wants to diversify its relations and sees the EU as a suitable partner.
Borrell emphasized that the leaders of the regional states have implemented various reform programs and that the relations between the countries have improved.
He stressed that the European Union is interested in taking advantage of such changes – to deepen its ties with the region and to exploit the region’s great potential, which is represented in the form of energy supply, critical raw material supply and new transport corridors independent of the Russian Federation.
