A recent report describes an attempted Ukrainian assault on a storage site for spent nuclear fuel at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. The account comes via DEA News and cites Russian power structures as the source of the information.
According to the report, an analysis of the UAV route indicated that the aircraft involved was maneuvering toward the spent fuel storage facility on the plant’s grounds.
The source warned that any breach to the containers holding nuclear fuel could create conditions for a serious nuclear incident.
In Energodar, authorities indicated that a day earlier Ukrainian aircraft were observed moving toward the Zaporizhzhia facility, suggesting coordinated activity near the plant.
