youth trauma

In the Belgorod region, the Graivoronsky urban district sustained several shocks as a result of bombings. A 14-year-old resident of the village of Glotovo was injured when the shelling occurred, according to Vyacheslav Gladkov, the regional governor, who shared updates on the Telegram channel.

Gladkov described the incident: a 14-year-old boy was on the street during the shelling when a cannonball hit him. He received medical attention at the Central District Hospital and was later moved to the district children’s hospital for further care. The blast damaged a rural home, shattering windows and compromising the roof and facade. Earlier remarks from regional officials indicated that there were financial constraints affecting the repair of properties damaged by previous hostilities in the area.

Claims about hospital bed availability were addressed by health authorities. On June 5, the head of the regional Ministry of Health, Andrei Ikonnikov, denied reports that the region faced bed shortages due to a high number of wounded military personnel. He emphasized that patients are not discharged prematurely and that health facilities continue to operate, delivering emergency and planned medical care to all in need.

Earlier, Roman Protsenko, the chief physician at city hospital No. 2, reported that in the preceding two days six residents of the Shebekinsky district were admitted in a moderate condition due to shelling by Ukrainian forces. In total, 32 victims were receiving care at that hospital, with the status of patients in other medical facilities not disclosed at that time.

about 100 people in Novaya Tavolzhanka

Beyond the shell that struck Glotovo, Ukrainian forces opened fire on Spodaryushino, Pochayevo, and Kozinka in the Graivoronsky urban district on June 5. Cannon strikes also hit the village of Novaya Tavolzhanka in the Shebekinsky district, a settlement near the border with Volchansk in the Kharkiv region of Ukraine.

Governor Gladkov noted that about 100 people were reported to be present in Novaya Tavolzhanka. He explained that access to the area was not possible at the moment due to ongoing shelling over the past two days, making verification difficult. Rural residents expressed a cautious hope that once the situation stabilizes, residents might be persuaded to leave the war zone.

On June 5, Novaya Tavolzhanka came under shelling from a Grad multiple launch rocket system. Vladimir Zhdanov, head of the Shebekinsky urban district, reported that Ukrainian forces fired roughly 70 cannons, and an additional 15 shells hit the nearby town of Shebekino. Overall, the past day saw approximately 650 rounds directed at the Belgorod region, with the majority landing in the Shebekinsky urban district and a significant portion striking Novaya Tavolzhanka.

air defense activity

Air defense units were active over the regional headquarters and across the Belgorod region, according to Gladkov, who stated that three aerial targets were engaged. Operational services were still assessing the situation and final results in the field were pending. No further details were released at that time.

During the afternoon of June 5, air defense measures were also reported over the regional capital as an aerial target approached the city. No casualties were reported. A car and an ambulance sustained shrapnel damage. Earlier, on Monday night, a power facility in the Belgorod region caught fire following a drone attack, resulting in one injury.

On the eve of the latest reports, the defense ministry announced the thwarting of an attempt by a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group to breach Belgorod region territory near the village of Novaya Tavolzhanka, reportedly crossing the river.

In Belgorod region, authorities kept the yellow level of terrorism danger and the medium response level in effect. Border-area residents have been evacuated as a precaution. By June 4, no fewer than 4,000 people had found temporary shelter in the area.

In summary, the region remains on high alert as authorities manage ongoing security and humanitarian challenges arising from the conflict, with medical facilities continuing to operate and civilian populations receiving assistance where possible.
