In Yekaterinburg, a local resident received court compensation for his daughter’s arm injury, tied to an incident at a sports facility. This detail comes from the Press Service of the Sverdlovsk Regional Court.
The incident prompting the case happened in 2022 during a speed skating training session at the Yunost Sports School. An 11-year-old boy shoulder-checked a female peer, causing her to stumble. He apologized and left the scene, while the instructor was away at the time of equipment changes. It later became clear that the fall resulted in a broken arm for the girl.
The girl’s mother filed a lawsuit against the boy’s parents, seeking moral damages amounting to 700,000 rubles. She argued that the injury affected not only her daughter’s emotional well-being but also her performance in sports and academics.
The court partially granted the claims, ordering the defendants to pay a total of 180,000 rubles. The mother appealed, arguing that the sports school bore responsibility for the injury rather than the parents. The prosecutor commented on the case, noting that the responsibility should be apportioned accordingly.
According to the court’s findings, 80 percent of the damage was attributed to the Yunost Municipal Budget Institution, with the remaining 20 percent to the defendant. The Sverdlovsk Regional Court then adjusted the compensation for non-pecuniary damages to 60,000 rubles in favor of the girl, and to 5,000 rubles for each of her parents.
In a separate, unconnected note, reports indicate incidents involving Russian teens in different contexts, including actions in a village school and the forest, though details and timing are not connected to the Yunost case.
