The Yaroslavl Kirovsky District Court has detained for two months a former official, Tatyana Cheremnykh, who previously led the Transport Department of the Yaroslavl Region. She faces charges linked to large-scale bribe-taking. The information was reported by TASS. (TASS)
According to investigators, between February 1 and May 19, 2023, Cheremnykh and several colleagues allegedly accepted bribes in cash from a businessperson in connection with government contracts governing passenger transportation. The total amount involved is 1,605,453 rubles. The inquiry notes that the defendant has admitted her guilt. (TASS)
Cheremnykh was appointed director of the Transport Department of the Yaroslavl Region in March 2022. Prior to that appointment, she worked within the Ministry of Transport of the Tver Region. (TASS)
Earlier reports from sources indicate that the Kommersant newspaper wrote that two Moscow prosecutors were detained by the FSB, suspected of attempting to obtain bribes amounting to $1 million.
