A 12% faced financial penalties, the same proportion (12%) received a reprimand, and 8% did not receive a bonus due to the mistake. Additionally, 8% chose to leave their job, and 4% experienced a pay cut. In rare cases, demotion occurred, affecting 1% of respondents.

The survey also touched on the broader implications of workplace mistakes, including how errors influence career choices and perceptions of accountability. While many employees attempt to manage missteps on their own or with a small circle of colleagues, a clear pattern shows that openness and timely support from leadership can reduce the adverse impact of mistakes and support a constructive recovery.
