Developers have introduced a feature that allows multiple WhatsApp accounts to run on different SIM cards within the app. Vladimir Ulyanov, who leads the Zecurion analytical center, mentioned in a televised interview that users choose this option based on their personal preferences.
According to the expert, there is a clear demand for this capability because it simplifies keeping business and personal conversations separate, for example.
The expert also stressed that security should stay at the forefront when operating two accounts.
“The goal is to keep the accounts apart as much as possible,” he noted. There are two reasons for this. One is ease of use. The other is security. “Each user should decide what matters most for them and what is more convenient.”
The analyst added that developers likely evaluated risks and implemented safeguards to reduce the chance of both accounts being compromised simultaneously. He also mentioned that users may need to log in again or enter an extra code to switch between accounts.
This comes after the announcement of a new feature a day earlier. The developers highlighted that the update will prevent users from leaving the messenger each time they switch accounts and will remove the need to carry two phones at once.
Earlier reports indicated WhatsApp has updated how it sends audio and video messages.
